The innovative research project, “Corn Oil-based Offset Printing Ink,” is an environmentally friendly offset printing ink developed from corn oil, a renewable bio-based raw material, as a sustainable alternative to petroleum-derived ingredients traditionally used in printing ink production. The innovation focuses on developing a high-performance printing ink that not only delivers excellent printing quality but also aligns with the principles of Green Industry by reducing dependence on fossil-based resources and promoting environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.

This innovation demonstrates the application of knowledge in engineering and industrial technology to enhance the value of biological resources through innovative material development. It promotes the efficient utilization of renewable resources, minimizes environmental impacts associated with conventional printing ink production, and supports the advancement of the Bioeconomy, which forms an integral part of Thailand's BCG (Bio-Circular-Green Economy) Model. Through this approach, the project contributes to the development of sustainable, environmentally friendly industrial solutions and encourages the transition toward a greener manufacturing sector.

The research was developed by Dr. Krairop Charoensopa and Assistant Professor Dr. Wat Ploysri from the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.

The project has been selected for presentation at the 2026 Japan Design, Idea and Invention Expo (JDIE 2026), which will be held from July 3–4, 2026, in Osaka, Japan. As one of the leading international exhibitions dedicated to research, innovation, and inventions, JDIE 2026 provides an important platform for researchers, inventors, and academic institutions from around the world to showcase their work, exchange knowledge and expertise, establish international collaborative networks, and further advance innovative research toward sustainable global development.
