The innovative project, “SiamCanvas: Thai Aesthetic Front Panel Innovation for Contemporary Air Conditioners,” is a contemporary design innovation that reimagines the front panel of air conditioners by seamlessly integrating the distinctive identity and elegance of Thai art and aesthetics into modern product design. The innovation enhances conventional household appliances by combining functional performance with artistic value, reflecting the harmonious integration of Thai wisdom, cultural heritage, and industrial design innovation. It addresses the evolving demands of modern consumers who seek products that offer both practical functionality and refined aesthetic appeal.

This innovation demonstrates the potential of creative design to add value to industrial products while promoting the application of Thailand's rich cultural capital as a source of contemporary innovation. By transforming traditional Thai artistic elements into a modern design language, the project creates distinctive products that strengthen international competitiveness and serve as a model for integrating Thai cultural identity with contemporary product design in a meaningful and commercially viable manner.

The research was developed by Assistant Professor Dr. Palang Wongtanasuporn, Associate Professor Dr. Rosjana Chandhasa, Ms. Chutima Ngampipat, Assistant Professor Patinya Sang-Aroon, and Dr. Chaichan Charuklas from the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.

The project has been selected for presentation at the 2026 Japan Design, Idea and Invention Expo (JDIE 2026), to be held from July 3–4, 2026, in Osaka, Japan. As one of the leading international platforms for showcasing research, innovation, inventions, and design excellence, JDIE 2026 provides researchers, designers, inventors, and academic institutions from around the world with opportunities to exchange knowledge, establish international collaborative networks, and further advance their innovations toward sustainable global development.
