Department of Computer Engineering Students Achieve 1st Runner-Up at Advanced Smart City Bootcamp in EEC
From August 26 to 28, 2026, the Department of Computer Engineering led a delegation of students to participate in the "Advanced Practical Training Bootcamp on Integrating Geoinformatics, AI, and Drone Mapping/Inspection for Smart City Management in the Eastern Economic Corridor (Batch 2)" at the DDM DTC Drone Training Center in Bang Saen, Chonburi Province. The group was actively supervised throughout the project by Lecturer Karn Charoenchit, a faculty member of the department.
The participating students were:
- Mr. Kitti Chaita
- Ms. Naphat Saetang
- Ms. Thanaporn Wiratmongkhonchai
- Mr. Thanakrit Wannarangsee
- Ms. Arissara Chantae
- Mr. Banyapon Krudnak
- Ms. Thikhamphorn Mahaisap
- Mr. Yutthajak Nukaew
Throughout the bootcamp, students gained hands-on experience in applying geoinformatics, artificial intelligence (AI), and drone technology to integrate data for efficient urban management.
The main highlight on Day 3 was a Mini Hackathon, where all 5 participating teams were challenged to transform the knowledge gained over the 3-day training into innovative concepts and develop a Business Model Canvas within a 3-hour limit.
The team comprising Computer Engineering students—Mr. Kitti Chaita, Ms. Naphat Saetang, Ms. Arissara Chantae, Mr. Banyapon Krudnak, and Ms. Thikhamphorn Mahaisap—alongside a participant from another organization, was awarded 1st Runner-Up in the Capstone Project Smart City Management Scenario pitch.
Their winning entry, "FoodieBot: Smart Village & EEC Smart City AI Logistics System," proposed an automated food delivery and logistics system powered by AI robotics, integrating geoinformatics and aerial drone inspections to enhance community living and drive smart city management across the EEC area.
This achievement marks another milestone demonstrating how computer engineering knowledge can effectively transform data, technology, and creativity into practical innovations that address real-world societal needs.
